The Hawk Moth Workshop Series is a collaborative effort between the University of Arkansas’ Brown Chair in English Literacy Initiative and the MFA in Creative Writing. We work with high school students in rural Arkansas in order to encourage the exploration of creative modes of expression; we believe in the arts as a means of self empowerment.

We also hope to confront the notion that poetry is “obsolete” or “too difficult” by acquainting students with the works of contemporary authors from a variety of sociocultural backgrounds.

We are committed to not only fostering creative growth, but providing students with connections and insight to post-secondary institutions.
